Celebrating the new generation, Saregama Events is very proud to present Kailash Kher, a shining star on the contemporary Indian music scene and Bollywood.
Kailash stormed onto the big league with his sensational Allah Ke Bandey for the critically acclaimed movie Waisa Bhi Hota Hai. Some labelled him India's answer to the late Sufi maestro Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. As a devout Shivite, Kher's amazing modern version of the evergreen Babam Lahiri gets even the uninitiated onto the dance floor.
His acoustic version of the super hit Tu Jaane Na from Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahanispeaks volumes of his powerful command on the classical genre that music directors cash in on time and again. Some of his popular Bollywood songs are Chak De Phattey, Arziyan, Bhangra Pauna and Ya Rabba to mention just a few. Kailash has also been commended on his talents as a lyricist and credited for beautifully combining traditional and modern music.
In 2004 Kailash along with brothers Paresh and Naresh Kamath formed Kailasa, one of India's leading young contemporary fusion bands. Their first self-titled album was hugely appreciated and carried the hits songs Teri Deewani, Dilruba and Tauba Tauba. Since then Kailasa have released two more albums, Jhoome Re, which also had the hit songs Jhoome Re and Saiyyan. Their third critically acclaimed album Chaandan Mein, consisted of the hit songs Na Batati Hu (Na Dhin Dhin Na), Bheeg Gaya Mera Mann and Piya Ghar Aavenge.
Saregama is also proud to announce the release of Kailasa's fourth and highly anticipated studio album Rangeele in January 2012, which they will be performing along with some of their previous hits. In addition Kailash will perform his popular Bollywood hits, classics like Chapp Tilak and Nusrat favourites like Sanu Ek Pal Chain Na Ave and Ishq Ka Rutba.
The evening promises to carry the vibrant energy that Kailash and his band bring to their performances.
"I'm delighted to be a part of Saregama's initiative to bring Indian artistes to wider audiences. It is through this platform that I can reach out to my UK fans and look forward to performing across the country. I'm privileged to be a part of this musical journey and to enlighten people through entertainment." - Kailash Kher.
" The moment I heard him, I knew that here was a voice that was so wonderful, and which had its own unique space.... I want to say that Kailash Kher's voice has something that had been lacking a lot - it had pure soul! Allah Ke Bandey is one of my all time favorite songs." - Academy Award - winning composer A R Rahman
